Mediaeval Ties

Norwich has one of the country's largest Mediaeval cathedrals and the largest urban zone in East Anglia. It is apparently the most Mediaeval city in the UK, with cobbled streets as seen at Elm Hill, old buildings including St Andrew's Hall, timber houses, an example being Dragon Hall and Mediaeval lanes.

Primaeval Beginnings

The Iceni tribe had its capital about five miles next to the centre of modern Norwich and in 60 AD, the area became the Roman capital of East Anglia.

The Saxons inhabited the city between the 5th and 7th centuries and in the 10th century Norwich became a town and the centre of East Anglia trade and commerce. Nowich castle was built soon after the Norman conquest, and in 1096 the Bishop of Thetford, Herbert De Losinga, began the construction of the Norman cathedral.

The wool trade in the Middle Ages made Norwich a wealthy settlement and paid for the many beautiful churches to be built. During this time, Norwich began to forge trading links with Europe, as far as Scandinavia and Spain.

The city walls were built between 1280 and 1340, and the area within along with the stretch of river was larger than the city of London. It was also made illegal to build outside of the city walls, ensuring that the inner sanctum expanded rapidly.

In the mid 17th century, Norwich prospered due to the cloth industry, which added to its urban growth. A city society was therefore established with areas for leisure and plentiful alehouses. In the 18th century, Norwich had a vibrant cultural life with a Winter theatre season and festivities during the Summer. It was noted to be the wealthiest town in England at this point. Also in the 18th century, Norwich's number of scholars increased. Examples include William Taylor, who was one of the first students to study German in England. In 1845, Norwich was further connected to the country by rail and there was a permanent military presence in the city after the Britannia Barracks were built in 1897.

In the early 20th century, Norwich was still a hub of manufacturing with shoes, cabinet and furniture makers, electrical engineers and chocolate makers. It was heavily bombed during the Second World War, and the council began a redevelopment of the city which never properly came into being.

Interesting Facts About Norwich

cities in the world in 2013 and The Sunday Times voted it as one of the best places to live in the UK in 2018.2019 and 2020.

After a riot in the city in 1274, Norwich is the only English city to be ex-communicated by the pope.

Cry Me A River

Dacryphilia is arousal from seeing someone cry. It is often associated with BDSM, and researchers found that fetishists find three things about it arousing- compassion, curled lips and dominance or submission. Some associate it with sexual arousal from comforting someone who is crying and also meeting someone who has faced hardships and providing them reassurance. Dacryphiliacs may be aroused when a partner cries whilst watching a film or from loving feelings when having sex.

Save Up All Your Tears

Tamara, 26, is a member of her local amateur dramatics society and is also a budding writer. She started escorting to make ends meet whilst she pursues her writing passion: “I wanted to offer some of the lesser known fetishes as part of my services. I am very good at showing emotion when I am acting, and I can make myself cry if I put my mind to it.” Tamara has a dedicated group of regulars who make appointments with her for Dacryphilia bookings: “I basically have to cry whilst they masturbate, and then they get pleasure from cuddling me and then I either give them oral or we have sex.”

Tamara says she likes bringing something different to the table which will make her more desirable to clients: “I discovered this fetish when my ex boyfriend used to get hard when he saw people crying on television. I practised and we incorporated it into our sexual routine. It is not as extreme as some fetishes, it is more sensual and intimate.”

I asked Tamara if she combines it with BDSM: “I do a bit of tie and tease, but I would never do tears with pain. I find that a bit disturbing. I wouldn't want someone to be aroused by thinking that I was hurt but rather from making me feel cared for. I've seen extreme kidnap porn where they hurt the girl to make her cry so they can get off on it. That isn't what I do.” Tamara prefers to do incall bookings: “I feel safer in my own home and will only see clients once I've screened them and spoken to them. I believe I'm a pretty good judge of character and fingers crossed I've never had any bad experiences thus far. My family is actually very supportive of what I do. They know how much I want to be a writer full time and escorting is flexible and pays me well enough so I can have the time to write. My mum comes with me to the GUM clinic every month as I get regularly tested, because I hate hospitals. As long as I'm safe she doesn't see a problem as she knows it's not forever.”

It is refreshing to see how much support Tamara has from her family members. She says she is happy escorting and meeting people from lots of different backgrounds gives her inspiration for her books.

Tear Stained Memories

Tamara had one client who wanted her to cry on to his penis whilst he masturbated, so that the tears dripped onto his shaft whilst he stroked: “It was a bit strange positioning myself so that the tears would fall where they were supposed to.”

Another client liked to lick her tears as she cried: “I stopped him doing it after a couple of sessions. I felt a bit claustrophobic with his tongue all over my face.”
