Lights, camera, action!
Stamford is a frequent filming location owing to its many 17th and 18th century stone and timber framed buildings and five Mediaeval churches.
In 2013, it was in a study conducted by The Sunday Times, which rated it one of the best places to live.
Stamford has Roman origins and even Boudica made an appearance here in 61CE. It was later settled by the Saxons, where it appears in the Doomsday Book of 1086. The name Stamford means “Stony ford”. In the Middle Ages it grew in notoriety for the production of woollen cloth which was given the name Stamford cloth, and which became well known in Venice. Stamford holds an annual street fair that began in the Middle Ages and is now the largest street fair in Lincolnshire.
By the 17th century, the wool industry had declined and the leather industry emerged along with wood and stone. Due to efforts in making the River Welland accessible again, the malting trade also flourished.
During the Second World War, Stamford contained several military sites such as an RAF station, airborne encampments and a prisoner of war camp.
Interesting facts about Stamford
The first tomatoes grown in the UK sprouted in the conservatory of Burghley House. There are over 600 listed buildings in the town and surrounding areas.
Phallic desires
Acrotomophilia is where an individual is sexually interested in amputees. This may be because of the way they look or because the amputee's stump looks phallic. Fetishists may enjoy dominating the amputee or enjoy taking care of them. In a survey of acrotomophiles, leg amputation was preferred as was the amputation of a single limb over double limbs. Amputations which left a stump were favoured over those with no stump. Ethical issues have arisen as to whether it is justified to amputate one's own body parts, or to operate on a partner for the sake of sexual pleasure. Some people believe modifying the body is a personal and private ritual of self ownership and a freedom of choice.
The film Boxing Helena is an example of acrotomophilia, where a surgeon becomes obsessed with a woman and removes her limbs after she suffers a car accident.
Not a loss, but a gain
Simone, 34, suffered a gruesome accident at work which caused her to lose her left hand leaving her with a stump: “That was absolutely the worst time of my life. I was plagued with depression and tried to end my life several times. I felt so ugly and useless. I had to learn how to do things one handed or to use my stump like a hand.”
After many months of intense therapy and medical care, Simone slowly began to adjust to her situation and how to live with her disability: “I realised after a time, that I was lucky to be alive. That's when I started going to talks with people who were also disabled. It helped me a lot.” Fast forward two years and Simone wears a prosthetic, latex hand: “The whole reason I began escorting was to fund a functioning hand. The one I have cosmetically looks OK, but I can't use it. The latest technology isn't cheap.”
Simone does work part time as a cashier in a supermarket, but is hoping to escort full time in the future. She began escorting 8 months ago, so is fairly new to the job. She excels in providing a very unique service: “I'd heard about amputee fetishism but thought it was a fallacy untilI advertised my service explaining I was an amputee, and I had a lot of messages from interested parties. A lot want me to put my stump up their bum or in their vagina. I do see both sexes. I am a bit fluid myself in my sexual preference and still not sure what box I'm in, but veer towards pansexuality.” Simone uses special lubricant on her stump before insertion: “I get a lot of clients who want extreme gaping and I always make sure they have done it before and have prepared themselves before coming to me. I have thin arms but I am always careful not to take it too far where it will injure the client. I do offer standard sexual services too, but a lot of people are intrigued by my stump.”
Simone only does outcalls since she has a flatmate and also wants to have her privacy when she's not working: “My flatmate totally understands my situation and supports me. I do go to client's houses, but tend to do hotels more as I feel safer.”
Simone has faced backlash from people saying it's wrong to use her disability as a sexual fetish: “ They are not in my shoes. I unfortunately don't have the luxury of a large bank account. If I'm going to be able to buy a functioning hand, it will be through escorting. I don't hate the job, if anything it makes me feel desirable despite my disability, but in truth if I had not had my accident then I probably wouldn't be an escort.”
Simone's family however, don't know about her “other” job: “At this point my parents don't need to be aware of everything I do in my life. My mother coddled me enough after my accident. It is best if they don't know.”
Simone has had a couple of freakish clients who she has promptly got rid of, one of which is mentioned in the next section: “Some people go to the extreme, however if their safety and my integrity is compromised, then I will not service them.” Once her goal is reached Simone wants to return to college: “I don't want to be escorting forever. I'm going to train to be a counsellor. I feel as an amputee myself I would be able to help people and that's what kept me going through my dark times; having someone to talk to and share experiences. Escorting has proven to be a good tool in helping me be fully able bodied again. I'd say another year and I will have enough funds. In many ways, escorting has saved my life.”
Unbelievable memories
“One of my clients turned up to the hotel and brandished a kitchen knife out of his bag. I nearly had a heart attack and picked up the hotel kettle as defence. He soothed me and said ' Oh I don't want to hurt you. I want you to cut off my hand so I can be an amputee like you and put my stump in your vagina.' I was appalled and terrified. I asked him to leave threatening to throw the kettle at him and I grabbed my phone and said I'd call the police. He left, disappointed.I blocked him and never saw him again. I would never wish my disability on anyone, let alone maim someone intentionally. My flatmate still thinks I should report him for being so shocking and scaring me.”
Simone also had another client who said he would pay for her new hand if she moved in with him to be his sex slave and muse: “I would never do anything like that for money. I'd rather earn it myself not be beholden to a stranger and used just to get paid.”
A strong, wise, brave woman, I fervently hope Simone reaches her goal soon. Cat nap: Hotels in Stamford
